About As A level Biology Exam

As A level Biology Grades

The As A level grading system has a raw score and a scaled score. The Raw score is determined as 1 mark per question currently answered. Penalties in terms of negative marks are added to discourage guessing. The raw score of the exam is then rounded off, and then scaled to a score between 200-800 points, which are used as the final score.

You are allowed to use a four-function, scientific, or graphing calculator on the entire IB Biology Exam–including both the multiple-choice and free response sections.

The Exam

The As A level Biology exam runs for 60 minutes.All questions have a Raw score of 1 for every correct answer and a deduction of -1/4 for every incorrect answer.

Points - 200-800 - 80 (Multiple Choice)

60 of the 80 questions are common to both Biology E and M, followed by 20 specialized questions for each section.
